Vera finds herself taking a look into the tangled past of extreme sports fanatic, Gideon Frane, after he falls from a Northumberland cliff top in a ball of flames. As a former head boy, Headmistress Vivienne Ripman remembers him as leader of a gang of ‘golden lads and girls’. Vera and her team need to try and trace Gideon’s gang to learn about a lifetime of bullying and an unexpected story of tested loyalties.
