Star Trek: Discovery will premiere on the CBS Television Network, then be available exclusively on CBS All Access, the network's digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service. It is the first time a series will be developed specifically for the CBS subscription service, which already offers every episode of the original "Star Trek" TV series that aired on CBS from 1966-69.Alex Kurtzman, co-writer and producer of 2009's "Star Trek" and sequel "Star Trek Into Darkness," will executive produce the series alongside Heather Kadin, with whom Kurtzman executive produces on CBS dramas "Scorpion" and "Limitless." The updated series will introduce new characters "seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966," reads the press release.
