The Socceroos have only reached the knockout round once prior to this World Cup, when they fell to Italy in the round of 16 in 2006.

Denmark's best run came back in 1998, when a side inspired by the likes of Brian Laudrup and Peter Schmeichel narrowly lost to Brazil in the quarter-finals.
