A young girl, Miriam Burdett (Julyza Commodore), is found in an alley, with her throat cut and evidence of repeated rape and physical abuse. When asked to write who attacked her, because of her inability to speak, she draws a picture of the devil. When Detective Munch investigates, detectives meet Father Theo Burdett (guest star Robert Wisdom), Miriam's adoptive father, who rescued her and her friend Elijah Okello (Gbenga Akinnagbe) from the Lord's Resistance Army - one of whom may be her attacker.
