With a month under their belts, the junior doctors are growing in confidence. Just as well, as they face up to some of their most challenging cases.

During a hectic 9-hour shift, Claire (pictured) battles overcrowding in the emergency department and a shortage of blood bank supplies as she fights to help a cancer patient in desperate need of a transfusion.

Ese must solve a medical mystery when a 31-year-old woman comes in suffering from extreme pain and vomiting – which she puts down to having been poisoned by her hair dye.

And Christine has to use her judgement to decide whether an 81-year-old man with history of heart attacks is having another dangerous episode.
