Plot

Maleficent is a 2014 dark fantasy movie that features Angelina Jolie as the eponymous Disney Villainess character, Maleficent. The film is a live-action re-imagining of 1959 Walt Disney animated film Sleeping Beauty, and portrays the story from the perspective of the antagonist. Other stars included in the movie are Sharlto Copley as Stefan, Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora / Briar Rose, the Sleeping Beauty, Sam Riley as the shapeshifter Diaval, Imelda Staunton as the pink flower pixie Knotgrass, Juno Temple as green flower pixie Thistlewit, Lesley Manville as a playful blue pixie flower Flittle, Kenneth Cranham as King Henry and Hannah New as King Henry's loyal daughter, Leila. Here's the plot summary of the movie: "Maleficent" explores the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turned her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king's newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora (Elle Fanning) is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever. Maleficent is the directoral debut by American special effects artist, designer and filmmaker Robert Stromberg.
