Lawless is a 2012 Prohibition-era gangster film directed by John Hillcoat based to the novel of The Wettest County in the World regarding to Franklin County, Virginia, by Matt Bondurant, which was personalized into a screenplay by Nick Cave and Produced by Lucy Fisher, Douglas Wick, Michael Benaroya and Megan Ellison. It stars Tom Hardy as Forrest Bondurant, Shia LaBeouf as Jack Bondurant, and the youngest of the three brothers, Jason Clarke as Howard Bondurant. Guy Pearce as Special Agent Charlie Rakes, Gary Oldman as Floyd Banner, a gangster, Mia Wasikowska as Bertha Minnix, a Mennonite preacher's daughter who is the love interest of Jack, Jessica Chastain as Maggie, Forrest's love interest, Dane DeHaan as Cricket, Jack's best friend, Randall Franks as leader of the Cornshuckers String Band that Bertha Minnix (Mia Wasikowska) performs with.
