Jack the Giant Slayer is yet another fairy tale fantasy film that is based on the famous fairy tale story, "Jack and the Beanstalk." Stars Nicholas Hoult as Jack, the primary protagonist of the film, Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane, Bill Nighy, and Ewan McGregor. The movie follows the story of Jack, a young farmer whose fascination surround with the legend of Erik, an ancient king who defeated an army of invading giants. In his story, he will lead an expedition that will try to save Princess Isabelle from his giant abductors. It is a crossover of two worlds, human and the fearsome giants. And an ancient war will be reignited as Jack opens the said gateway. After centuries have passed, the giants will try to strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend—and gets the chance to become a legend himself. The movie was directed by Bryan Singer (X-Men: First Class, Valkyrie, Superman Returns). Jack the Giant Slayer received mixed reviews from various critics and did a "lukewarm" performance in the box office.
